RPGamer’s weekly podcast looks at the latest happenings in the world of Role Playing Games. From video to pen and paper, all is fair game as we go through the week’s news, latest releases, and reviews to keep you up to date on the best gaming genre out there.
It's the final countdown! Chris and Anna Marie are joined by regular Kelley and irregular Jonathan, who always brings interesting games and hardware to discuss. April Fool's just passed, and several companies got silly. We also considered piles of feedback in the Question of the Week. We'll miss you all, see you in six weeks.
A party of four puts on our thinking hats, contemplating games we haven't played - and which we should tackle in a packed April. Surprise announcements and an interesting debate on old looking games versus classic feeling games. Yup, that's the RPGCast!
Question of the Week
Are you getting any of April's releases?
A slightly smaller show doesn't mean any less action, news, or hilariously questionable jibes for this week's RPGCast. We learn we cannot, in fact, git gud enough, so we're gonna go back to playing games with tutorials and a real sense of direction now. Thanks to listener DanielNL for his title suggestion this week!
Question of the Week
Do you play Switch docked, undocked, or both?
RPGCast – Episode 496: “Painful Sneeze Out Of Ten”
We're joined by a new staffer (Peter) this week for a HUGE cast! We set off a KEMCO alert with massively overpriced DLC, we're accidentally forgetting about pre-orders, and as if we didn't have enough upcoming games, NISA announced all the things. This was all prefaced by an extensive Now Playing section, so your dose of weekly silliness has arrived.
Question of the Week
What 3DS game would you like to see ported to Switch via an HD version?
We’re all coughing, sniffling, and feeling terrible, but we love you and still wanted to record our weekly podcast. Join us as we get simultaneously excited and confused about…well…everything going on in March? This is going to be a busy month for RPGamers!
This week's cast discusses what foibles can hold back a game, including not being able to connect and bad translations. We also dive into DLC discussions - some pretty cool, some late, and some just crazy expensive!
Question of the Week
What ONE game do you regret buying at full price and why?
You won’t get skunked this week with a full-fledged RPGCast! We dissect the recent Nintendo Direct (BOWSER IS TAKING OVER), discuss our Now Playing (with a love-hate CompileHeart relationship), and have a heavy dose of fun feedback.
So this is actually Episode 491 because "Game Of The Year" was 490. After the show, Anna Marie and Chris got Taco Bell. Johnathan got distracted from his review. Josh got arrested by the feds. And Alex got the worst punishment of all, more Kingdom Hearts.
It's time for way too many people to get on a Skype call and debate the following. How much is Wheels is wrong? What decade will the Final Fantasy VII remake will come out? And most importantly, what did we do to deserve Metal Max Xeno and The Witch and the Hundred Knight 2?
RPGCast – Episode 488: “Hey There’s A Spider Down Here!”
A surprise disappointment in our Now Playing, a surprise announcement in the News, and Chris shouting ELDER SCROLLS really loudly in the briefs (and beyond) sum up this week's podcast. Please, someone get that man a donut.
Question of the Week
What are your thoughts on the Trails of Cold Steel III news?
This week's cast has Pascal and Johnathan discussing their holiday gameplay time as well as whether Octopath Traveler is worth a second look. Also, Chris gets really frustrated about Atelier games and Anna Marie gets really frustrated with Chris.
RPGCast – Episode 485: “The Christmas Zone Treaty”
Happy Holidays! We wrap up the final podcast of the year affirming it's OK for Anna Marie to play casual games, even if Chris disagrees. While Josh and Kelley are making New Year's resolutions, Chris also disagrees about what should be a brief story. We'll see everyone in 2019!
The podcast goes a little potty-mouthed as Chris complains about waiting for his Christmas gift, Anna Marie complains about hard games, and we discuss the mess that is Fallout 76 (and its collector's edition). What a weird two weeks!
Two long-gone cast members return this week as we discuss Pokémon, a huge amount of FFXIV news, and some curious info about E3. It's way too early, but there it is. Happy Thanksgiving - we'll be back in two weeks.
This week’s cast crew discusses realistic horse bits and their impact on the gaming world. We also tackle unusual stories like a long-awaited fan translation, and we begin to take bets on "who’s the daddy?" Also, Extra Life is next week! Get hyped!
Sponsor Chris for Extra Life!
Question of the Week
What should we play during Extra Life? Doesn't have to be an RPG.
Technical snafus won’t get us down! Before our trip to Las Vegas we discuss how Chris really needs a Switch (but there’s no way he’s getting one) as well as cRPGs both modern and retro, as Jonathan joins the crew this week. Can you tell we lost half the audio?
RPGCast – Episode 476: “Accidentally Sucked Into Another Dimension”
We return from a weekend off to discuss good games, bad games, old games, and new games that aren’t out yet! Anna Marie hosts as we tackle TGS, the continued flood of holiday releases, and numerous site features.
Chris is merely a man. If you prick him, does he not bleed? If you give him two awkwardly full bottles of soda, does he not spill them on his laptop and require an expensive repair? And if you give him a cup of coffee after that repair, does not his cat spill it on the same laptop and break it again? What? Oh, those last two aren't normal? Oh, I guess he is an idiot then.
RPGCast – Episode 474: “My Desk Is Made Of Rich Mahogany”
If you're not too busy swinging through the streets, perfecting your armour, or exploring the Dreaming City we've got a new RPG Cast for you. And if the current fall lineup wasn't already overwhelming, then get ready for a long list of new titles announced or shown recently that are going to make you wonder how you can ever get caught up.
Armadillos that look like hedgehogs. Chocobos that cheat. Monsters that invade. And squirrels that ride cat skeletons. It's a really weird week. It also seems no one can agree on the best Tales game.
Question of the Week
Do you have a favorite Doctor Who doctor? Whom?
This show marked the beginning of the Donut Wars. Why they began, historians disagree. All that is known is that the destruction left in their wake had long lasting effects on humanity. No fewer than 30 species went extinct in the aftermath of the Wars. It is also widely believed that Strawberry Cream Cheese began his tyrannical rule directly due to the power vacuum the Wars left. Also, Shining Resonance Refrain is kind of not very good.
Question of the Week?
What modern Tales game should Paws play?
Chris gets stared down by kangaroos while playing every game in existence. Anna Marie shows us her kangaskhan. Kelley does a blind taste test of demonic dungeon crawlers. And Josh leaves Japan and jets on down to Egypt.
Question of the Week?
Did you get anything in the Steam Sale, and how much have you spent total? How bad do you feel about this?
E3 is just around the corner, so everyone's working on their backlogs before the new stuff gets announced. There are predictions, Pokémon, and vague Fallout announcements. Then there is a memorial service for baby meowth.
Question of the Week?
What are your E3 predictions?
Josh goes through small spell caster based torment. Kelley awakens from a kitty coma. And Johnathan tries to talk Chris into playing Suikoden...again. This episode of RPG Cast will never be on Virtual Console.
Question of the Week?
How much do you care about digital retro games dying?
RPGCast – Episode 462: “So, You Brought Up Memes On The Show”
Anna Marie proves she's insane and tries to get Chris to start up a human breeding program to boot. We hear from people about the new sock. Josh tells us about a witch school. Also Kelley goes to Antarctica.
RPGamer is brand new, but does it do that woo woo circle thing? We find the answer to "What is the Dark Souls of Jurassic Park?" Someone loses a leg but still runs around headbutting enemies. And of course, we get baseball coaching lessons from a gangster.
While Johnathan defends his pride from Scar, Alex practices being Daduza. Christopher learns that it's hard work owning a TurboGrafx. Anna Marie, meanwhile, has been beating three games in the time it took you to read this.
While Chris is tempted by another physical collector's edition, Kelley drowns in chili dogs. Alice survives Mars and seems to enjoy FFXV to boot. Josh, meanwhile, wanders deep into the mired woods that is Witch and the Hundred Knight 2. We may not see him again.
RPGCast – Episode 456: “A Very Special e-PAWS-sode”
Anna Marie hosts this week's Cat Fancy, as the cast tries to figure out if touching girls is OK (we discover it isn't OK to touch underage girls in several countries, as one upcoming title gets refused ratings). Games come out, games get delayed, games change their name, and Josh really hopes an anime game doesn't suck for once. Chris' addiction to Monster Hunter continues unabated, and since it's getting a big update, it's probably not going to end any time soon. Don't forget to leave us an answer to our question of the week!
RPGCast – Episode 455: “That’s Not How Time Travel Works”
We return from the depths of kidney despair to bring you a fresh show. Chris's FFXI obsession has passed (for now). Kelley learns to Musou. Jonathan becomes a snobby retro collector. Joshua samples the VR sandwich. Alice blasts off into open space. And Anna Marie plays literally everything.
RPG Cast is back, if a little bit lighter. See what one plays when they have three weeks without work. See what happens when THQ becomes THQ again. See what happens when FFXV is on Windows. See what happens when Goofy is turned into a Cthulian horror. Actually don't see that one; you can't unsee it.
Lots of mechs today. Watch out that they don't break you. Were you a supporter of Obsidian's last kickstarter? See when you get your reward for being one of their pillars. Finally, see if there's a princely reception or pathetic squalor waiting for you in the Royal Edition of FFXV.
2018 is shaping up to be the year of catching up on 2017 games. Not a lot coming out this week to dissuade one from that opinion. Although, Switch owners may have some stuff to look forward to. And Pikachu fans get a special surprise.
RPGCast – Episode 451: “Succumbed To The Cult Of Trails”
It's a new year but it has the same old shenanigans. Not finishing games, PC hackers, getting distracted by shiny new toys, and Tarutaru addiction. So sit down, relax, make some tea, and warm up during the cold winter's chill by listening to this week's show. Maybe you can figure out how to get Chris to stop playing FFXI.
RPGCast – Episode 450: “In VR, The Shark Jumps You”
We have a pawsitively clawsome lineup for you today. Play with your furriends in a mew unexpected expansion. Enjoy a new title from the creators of the vaunted Clawout games. Finally, if you're feline behind in your backlog, now is the time for kitten caught up. Make your purrlans, beclaws 2018 is coming soon!
Chris struggles with grains. Anna Marie goes on a month long Final Fantasy journey. Pascal enjoys being called "commander." Kelley is underwhelmed by her 'mon. And Josh bravely undertakes the task of trying out Tokyo RPG Factory's next game.
Xenosaga Chronicles 2 is here. Did you get a switch just for it? Chris and Alex talk through their experiences. Johnathan, meanwhile, has been delving through ancient Bioware dungeons. Oh and I just remembered, we're getting Valkyria Chronicles 4.
Armadas of sheep, ragequitting farmers, warring ogres, and super powered raccoons are unleashed upon the world this holiday season. Will the heroes of RPGamer be able to stand against the Black Friday hordes? Will they succumb to the despair of multiple unfunded Kickstarters? Will Noctis just join the cast and fix everything?
Chris needs help with Xenoblade. Alice discovers something in deep space. Josh is finally free from the tyranny of Ireland. And Kelley exits a prison of dungeon crawling only to immediately get tossed into a new one.
I'll spare you the puns and just describe the show. We all want to play SMT and Dragon Quest games, but no one wants to play FFXIV DLC. The jury is still out on the upcoming portable Final Fantasy. In the meantime, donate to Extra Life and try not to fall asleep.
This week we discover that about 4000 horror RPGs are coming out in time for Halloween. We learn that Chris is once again bad at finishing games. We listen to Kelley fall back into WoW and Stardew addiction. We find Josh being pelted by Summon Night heroes falling from the heavens. And finally we take solace in Alex holding steady with yet another visual novel RPG. At least some things you can count on.
Real estate scandals, early DLC announcements, lootbox gambling, and golf rap battles are some of this week's controversies. Also, Joshua Carpenter makes his first RPG Cast appearance. Welcome him like you'd welcome Chris. No wait, welcome him better than you'd welcome Chris.
At some point Chris dropped a keyboard on the floor during this show and lost a tilde key. Anna Marie lost her mind trying to keep up on all the new releases. And Kelley lost so many socks. So so many socks stolen by wicked feline thieves.
This week I have a challenge for you. Yes, you, the person reading this description. Call our voicemail at 608-729-4098 and leave a message about our question of the week. For each call I get, I'll donate $5 to our Extralife fund this year. Unless someone makes some crazy auto call bot and spams 10,000 calls. Don't get any ideas now!
As we acknowledge our robot overlords, we also listen to all the new stuff coming out of Japan. There's mechs, monsters, Chobobros, and deformed amazons. What else can you ask for? What? No, there was no FFVII remake news. Ok, stop asking about that.
Chris commits sins originally. Anna Marie reminisces about PAX. Kelley hunts monsties and travels octagonally. Alex is still searching for Ray Romano. And Pascal, sadly, seems to lack determination. It's all good though, since it sounds like everyone will finally get an NES Classic.
PAX is history but Chris is still feeling the siren's call of some of its best games. Alice is busy fending off aliens and hedgehogs. Meanwhile, Alex is neck deep in Otome byproduct. Which is probably illegal. Or at least it should be.
While getting ready for PAX, the crew realizes there's an unyielding torrent of videogames heading their way. Are they all remakes? How many of them are Final Fantasy XV? Why is there a new temptation to come back to World of Warcraft? How many collector's editions will be bought? Tune in and find out on today's RPG Cast.
The Bard's Tale, Realms of Arkania, and Ultima Underworld all try to get a piece of the good old nostalgia today. Sadly, that's already owned by a giant hedgehog statue and random FFV bosses. Oh well, better luck next time. Now to get back to managing my cat cafe.
The summer doldrums are here. Wash away that gaming sadness with the plethora of new releases...oh right there aren't any. You could watch some videos of some games that will eventually come out? Ah forget it, let's all go back this automatic toothbrush.
RPGCast – Episode 433: “The Cackle Of A Broken Woman”
Chris goes to therapy for his primal EX woes. Anna Marie gets a new mobile addiction. Kelley asserts that Zestiria is NOT the seasoning of the future. And Alice gets everyone to give their personal information to strange Japanese MMOs. She also gets a really cool monitor that I'm super jelly of.
E3 has come and gone. What did we think? What did you think? We try to tackle all these topics as well as figure out why we need an Xbox One X. We also get lost in FFXIV's Deep Dungeon. What day is it? I'm still sick. Send help. And pizza.
As we gear up for E3, we get hyped about the latest games. That's right, we've got some hot impressions on Harvester and Diablo II. Ok, well we do, so you can just stop complaining now. Hey you be good or I'll turn this hype train around and we won't go to E3 at all. What do you mean that you don't care cause it's all streamed now and you can just eat Doritos and watch trailers?
RPGCast – Episode 428: “Not Talkin’ ‘Bout The Underwear”
Magikarp manages to keep swimming up the current of news for another week. But Fire Emblem, River City, and Pyre show up as stops along the river. Waters get a bit choppy when Zwei shows up, but Pascal manages to talk everyone through the crisis and return to his home galaxy of Andromeda.
Today's episode is pretty fishy. But that doesn't keep Alice from telling us about her music sequencer powered robot armor. It doesn't stop Capcom from shocking Chris with a Switch version of Monster Hunter. And it doesn't stop Square Enix from having the most amazing release windows for the FFVII remake.
Pascal joins us to fill us in on what those pesky Vikings are up to nowadays. Kelley brings us the latest on SNES RPGs. Anna Marie has some insights on delusional temporal disorders. And Chris...well...Chris can't play a game legitimately to save his life.
Chris confesses his lack of Fire Emblemy skill. Anna Marie confesses her love for melty slimes. Simon sleeps for most of the show. But all of our listeners are apparently finishing Persona 5 and starting TiTS 3rd.
Atlus makes an announcement, Two Worlds II necroposts DLC, and those darn Trails take to the Sky again. A new crisis is burgeoning, however. Chris has been spotted wandering around wearing nothing but his skinsuit and shouting "this hand of my burns with an awesome power!" Alice has been called in to resolve this situation.
It's four two two on 4/22. Can you feel the synergy? No? Listen, it's a slow news week so we need you to work with us here. We literally have a story about a patch. Also we developed a new Kirby spin off with demon negotiation. Yeah...it's a slow week.
Would rather hang out with an advice-giving cats or a species of hivemind hominids? Would you rather play Dragon Quest XI on PS4 or 3DS? Would you rather play FFXIV for free or go out looking for NES Classics? Would you rather watch the Disney Afternoon or TGIF? We ask the hard questions this week.
RPGCast – Episode 420: “Not that kind of Ottomon!”
This is the end of an era. No longer will we be able to look forward to episode 420. You could say our ambitions have gone "up in smoke." But it would be more positive to point out that this just gives us a reason to look forward to RPGCast's eventual HD reboot where we have free swimsuit DLC for everyone.
RPGCast – Episode 419: “The Star Trek V of Mass Effect”
Digimon has a new case. Nintendo has a new Limited Edition. Radiant Historia has a new remake. World of Warcraft has a new patch. You know what isn't new? My Joy-Con. I think I'll mail it back to Nintendo.
I'll be honest with you. I'm pretty sick and I don't remember what happened on this episode. I think I eventually complained about Mass Effect and Alice talked about robots. At some point my wife left me but she's still here so I'm not sure how that went down. I'm going to go take a nap.
This week we have two essential tips for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. We ask, "What's too much to spend on a video game?" Is this FFXV star too much for you to handle? And finally, you won't BELIEVE who we caught hanging out in inappropriate swimwear!
RPGCast is surprisingly current this week. That's right, besides the expected Super Robot Wars V, Zelda, and Horizon: Zero Dawn impressions, we have info on the hotly anticipated FFXIV and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. Cozy up to your Zune and give the show a listen.
RPGCast – Episode 415: “Playing Criminal Girls For The Articles”
The world of video games holds many mysteries. Whether it be monks fighting on a hand, screenshots that make games look like other games, or re-releases of PS2 games that no one wanted, we uncover many new secrets every week. None of that, however, explains why Anna wants to flick slime on half naked girls.
It's that time again. Where we get together and discuss the best games of the last year. Then things get weird. Mike is wrong, Sam is indecent, Adriaan is cold as steel, and Kelley wonders what she's gotten herself into. It's the Game of the Year show!
Anna Marie get some counseling for her two star woes. Alice and Chris make it clear they don't know how to deal with large tortoises. Kelley gets a new kitty in real life and in WoW. Also, her cat has like seven toes. It's really weird.
This week we learn how to make SRPGs on the 3DS. We learn the minimum post-consumer content of dragon girls in our FFXIV guild. And we get professional guidance about how to succeed at Tales Of battle systems.
This week we're old and complainy. Chris is down on the Switch. Then he's down on FFXI's endgame loot. Then he's down on Pokémon's postgame. Ok so really Chris just needs a pick me up. Send him flowers.
We send some Fire Emblem info DIRECTLY to you. Then Alice gets Chris up to speed on the latest in Final Fantasy MMOs. Finally we all embark on a fever dream of chocobo costumed space exploration with anime dating. That or I fell asleep while editing the show. I'm not really sure.
Get lathered up and ready to hug your mana sabers. Today we Switch things up and talk about how many episodes it takes to destroy Namek. Then we waffle on Disgaea, mourn Scalebound, and learn all there is to know about FFXIV.
A new year brings a new podcast. Well a new episode at least. No new releases though. It's as though no one is ready for new RPGs. So let's talk about jumping on trucks, stained glass windows, and bad website addresses.
While Kelley and Chris fawn over the Chocobros, Anna Marie and Alex plan out next year's visual novel indulgences. Then they talk about Super Mario Run...and move on. Ah whatever, 2016 is almost over. Go download Lost Odyssey and have a good holiday!
Today we learn the difference between Nier and far. Then we take out a mortgage for a collector's edition. We then brush up our reading skills for an upcoming game. And finally we get disappointed due to a Sora lack of content.
Chris tries to cope with a reality where Windjammers is actually resurrected. Kelley tries to finish Pokémon. Alice tries to resist buying FFXV. Alex tries to make a news story. And everyone tries to just get Nebby to GET IN THE FREAKING BAG.
We know many of you need comfort in these dark times. RPGCast is here and hopes to be an escape from the worries and tribulations of the world around you. Please download and listen and we'll do our best to help you cope with our new reality. Do not worry and take heart, as Persona 5 WILL come out one day.
Chris dies in Dark Souls 22 times. Anna Marie plays that one town in Dragon Quest 7 AGAIN. Kelley collects demonic Pokémon. Alex loses at football. And Alice is in some sort of forced repetition hell. It's Extra Life 2016! Download now and donate later!
While Nintendo tries to own the news cycle this week, we have a bigger story. There is apparently a non Final Fantasy character in World of Final Fantasy. This is completely unacceptable. Also, it's just Alice and Chris this week, so get ready for some sci-fi talk.
A new FFXIV expansion STORMS onto the scene. Bandai Namco spins some TALES about an upcoming release. Square Enix announces a demo of a new WORLD. And Pokémon has us say ALOHA to another crappy piece of plastic we have to buy. Really?
From investigating childcare scandals to uncovering lupine infiltration, the RPG Cast has been looking out for you for four hundred episodes. This week, however, seems to be all smiling teddy bears and capybaras. Do be careful around your local McDonald's though, you may get a drive-by Hoopa.
RPGCast – Episode 399: “You Activated My Trap Chocobo”
Square Enix comes up with an incredibly innovative idea to make money. Kickstarter proves itself to be the answer to everyone's needs once again. And Persona 5 figures out how to charge for clothing without those pesky shipping logistics getting in the way.
Today's podcast has a feline bend, but we still aren't the official Cat Fancy podcast. The full crew is here today with tons of games, tons of news, and tons of ERROR: NON-CAPCOM SOFTWARE DETECTED. PLEASE INSERT STREET FIGHTER V DISC TO REINSTALL PC AND CONTINUE.
We're jumping onto the bandwagon of folks looking for a Vita version of that new Digimon game. We're also checking our TGS info cards to see what happened out in Japan. Also is the hype for FFXV inert or has it gotten over...say...9000?
The Legion invades this episode of RPG Cast. While Alice, Anna Marie, Chris, and Kelley are fighting off demons, Alex goes for a relaxing drive. Also, apparently some stuff happened in the world of FFXV. I'm sure it's fine now, but let's see what happened.
Chris clicks, Anna Marie goes on a Pokédate, Alex turns into a van, and Kelley is a Yo-kai. Ok, that may not be entirely accurate. All I know is we really need to get this Danny Devito situation handled.
This week we tell you how to handle those inconvenient leaks. Alex witches. Chris lawyers. Anna Marie retreats. Kelley arms. Johnathan G-Syncs. But let's be real. None of you are here right now. You're all walking into traffic while playing Pokémon GO.
While Chris tries to log into Pokémon Go, Anna Marie teaches Kelley about the finer points of Berserker rearing in Final Fantasy V. Johnathan still struts that Lordly Caliber. Meanwhile, Alice plans a trip the Kirby Cafe to refresh herself after taking over an island nation with a jet pack.
RPGCast – Episode 390: “Star Ocean 5: It Could Be Worse”
E3 is over but SGDQ has yet to start. How can you fill the time better than with an RPG Cast? Alice, Anna Marie, Chris, Kelley, and Johnathan share their picks for JRPGJuly as well as where to get a properly fitting shirt.
Zach, Zack, Pascal, and Chris bring E3 straight to your ear holes. Listen for the hottest gossip about drifting chocobos and titan hands in Final Fantasy XV. Notice the insightful commentary about X-strikes and sacrificial maidens in I Am Setsuna. Experience the glory of tales about assaulting game developers on the E3 show floor. And finish off with the exhiliration that only comes from waiting for cat ear hats themed after Persona 5. It's E3 2016.
It's the weekend before E3. What can we do but get on the hype train? First stop is Square Enix. Second stop is XSEED. Third stop is Atlus. Fourth stop is....wait...there are Persona 5 release dates at that last stop? Let's get off here!
Kelley watches over her shoulder. Anna Marie starts a musical act. Alice takes some turns at ruling a space empire. And Chris totally hammers out some chaos. Pre-order your own floofy donkey on this week's show.
This week RPG Cast welcomes Kelley to the show! Together with Anna Marie and Chris, they uncover the truth about Vita DRPGs. They unravel the mysteries of Fire Emblem DLC. They settle the old argument of FFXV car vs. chocobo. And finally they arrive at the glorious Pokémon cookbook. Yeah, sounds like RPG Cast.
Alice has returned, has delivered missiles, and has many stories of Final Fantasy inspired cafés. Anna Marie is still busting Ba'als. Jonathan has begun a kingdom. Chris tries to...oh forget this. There's Persona 5 news to talk about!
Take a break from PAX East 2016 for some gentle RPG sound waves. Anna Marie confesses her obsession with rebuilding the moon. Alex confesses his plans to win all the sports. And Chris confesses that can't do anything right when it comes to giant gothic spaceships.
Alex and Anna had to rescue Chris from the Rift to do this week's show. After their daring efforts, Alex tells about his deep love for roguelikes. Anna Marie illuminates how she'll soon need rescuing of her own from the world of Bravely Second. And Chris reveals that he was rescued only to die, again and again and again.
Ken Staples joins the show and teaches Chris everything he's doing wrong in The Division. Alice gets back into EVE and explains World War Bee to us. Alex is lost to the new season of baseball. And Jonathan and Anna Marie ignore all this and just keep marrying off their siblings.
Chris learns a hard lesson about how free-to-play isn't really free. Alice learns how to import Gunpla games. Alex learns how to properly cross check in lacrosse. And Anna Marie learns about how husbands can't be trusted. Meanwhile, Johnathon gets a kick-butt monitor delivered.
Alex and Alice teach Chris a thing or two about tea, cricket, and lacrosse. The sport, not the city. Alice then defends herself from the recent nonpurchase of a Gundam game scandal. Chris confesses his need for an FFXIntervention. And Alex gets on his high horse to tell us all about how special he is for playing Bravely Second before us. Jerk.
RPGCast – Episode 377: “The Redcoats Aren’t Coming”
We've repelled the British! An England-free RPGCast sails straight to your ears with news of dragons, family drama, and lottery balls. Jonathan and Anna Marie uncover the truth of Chris's weeklong conspiracy. And by the way, if anyone ever makes a real-life .Hack or Sword Art Online game, DON'T LOGIN TO IT!
While Chris and Anna practice their skinship this weekend, Robert, aka "lolwhoops", joins to talk about his digi-obsession. Alice once again disappoints in the area of missile delivery. Johnathan tries to get Chris to dive in. And then everyone talks about killin' aliens.
Simon curls into a crescent. Anna Marie goes to make lunch. Alice finally delivers some missiles. Chris is hacking web games. And Alex plays Madden. Ok, so maybe we need February to arrive so we can get some RPG action going on here.
As Anna works on replacing the podcast staff, Chris tries to figure out who can twink him through FFXI RoV. Alice doesn't deliver missiles, but does take us all the way back to the .hack series. Alex and Jonathan both hit one Out of the Park, but only Alex has the taste of Cold Steel in his mouth.
RPGCast – Episode 369: “Feedback Fills Us With Determination”
Some people answer some questions. Chris tries to give us a Just Cause for why he attached that cow to that helicopter. Alice gets Fruity with some Xenoblade. And Anna Marie stabs girls in the neck. Wait, what?
Sam Wachter tries to convince us that Moco Moco Friends' Plushkins are not Pokémon. Anna Marie goes through all the feels. Chris continues his therapy to come to terms with Fallout 4. And Alice swears like a sailor.
RPGCast – Episode 367: “Cheaters Sometimes Prospers”
Chris enters the confessional and spills the beans about what evil deeds he's been up to in Fallout 4 and Tales of Zestiria. Alex Dances All Night long and then stays up for some Fallout hijinks of his own. Finally, Anna Marie gives us some early impressions her time as a Riolu in Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon and as someone who stabs women in the throat in Stella Glow. Ok, why am I the one going to the confessional?
Nintendo does its best to get Chris to stop building beds in Fallout 4 by offering more Amiibos. Anna has to put down her Animal Crossing cards long enough to pre-order Fire Emblem Fates. And when Alice isn't pledging her life to Aiur, she's playing Final Fantasy...XI...still?
Sarah and Alice join Anna Marie and Chris for our annual charity podcast. Kids need healing, you need RPG news, and Alice needs to deliver more missiles. You can help with one of these things. Donate today at http://extra-life.org/team/rpgamer.
RPGCast – Episode 364: “Galactic Western Butt Rock”
Scott Wachter joins us to talk Legends of the Sword Coast variety. Chris and Alice tell each other Tales about how to properly get cleaned. And Anna Marie swears she's playing with two other people (but really she's just by herself in the corner).
RPGCast – Episode 360: “Talk Like A Pirate With The Privateers”
Alice delivers missiles and then takes a shower. Anna Marie crosses her exes and upgrades her goggles. Chris kickstarts all the games and laments over not being able to play all the shmups. Oh and TGS.
Anna Marie struggles with "The Toad Hand". Alex Fuller continues to abstain from seasonal Madden play. Chris gets two wife's worth of criticism. And Shawn Cooper...well...he's on this one. Take appropriate precautions.
Anna drowns herself in Yoshi plushies. Alice quits her EVE Online guild. Alex warns us about the dangers of Madden's franchise mode. And Chris spills coffee on his keyboard and cuts his finger trying to put glasses in the dishwasher. No seriously, that happened and he forgot to talk about it on the show.
RPGCast – Episode 355: “Break Glass In Case Of Sub Loss”
Gamescom has wrapped up but we're just getting started! Final Fantasy XII remaster rumors and eczema outbreaaks were leading the headlines, but Blizzard, not one to be left out, had to go and announce an expansion for WoW. Also, new RPG Maker!
Alice still can't deliver a laser light show party. Manny tries to crash said party but only gets a console platform debate for his trouble. Anna Marie is conceiving in the corner. And Simon is pushing all of Chris's buttons. In other words, it's a podcast.

Find out on today's episode!
On this morning's podcast we have BACON! Er...excuse me. I mean to say that we learn about Nintend-BACON! Ok, fine, let's get this out of the way. There was bacon present while we recorded. We ate bacon, lots of bacon, and then we were happy. Also, games.
Chris bought spoiled avocados last night. I made him get up early to make pot roast for dinner tonight and then I went to make some guacamole for lunch. But the avocados were spoiled. Why can't he do anything right? Oh and he put up this podcast.

Ultros in FFXIV, flying in the new Pokémon, a new SWTOR expansion, and a free Dragon Age game are just a few of this weeks stories. Oh and we talk about how you can help us heal kids in this year's Extra Life marathon.
Is your flexible iPhone getting you down? No? Wait...you mean you don't come to this show for mobile news and just want to hear about RPGs from TGS? Well...ok. But what am I going to do with all these bending phone gifs?
Your coffee may be fair trade, but is it locally sourced? Who did the grinding of those beans? It's been alleged that your Aeropress had improper dealings with the Starbucks marketing manager. You know the reviews of that new roast were delayed a day to get one more day of sales, don't you? The only way to fight this corruption is to drink nothing but Lupicia tea! This post sponsored by Lupicia tea.
This week we have our PAX Prime wrapup! Of course, while we were out at PAX Sony and Nintendo decide to announce a billion games a new system. But really, the real travesty is this auto-tuning in that new Annie movie. Come on!

Natural doctrines come along so infrequently that you'd think we'd notice when one was cresting over the horizon. The record keepers come, gathering magic in 2015 like an unexpected inquisition in the age of ten quests for dragons. Nevertheless, the Inazuma Eleven will go forth and seed unrest among the various personas. Their destinies written in trails across the sky.
We learn how to run a sports league. Then we cover the big new Final Fantasy announcement. Then we've got exciting news for the new Trails in the Sky game. Also, nothing of what I just said is positive.
Jon, Alex, Anna, and Chris spend a quiet Saturday away from speed runs and soccer balls to bring you the latest in RPG happenings around the world. Well, in reality, we nerd out about Magic: The Gathering, iPad games, the city building genre, and poorly named JPRGs. Then we all go cheat our way through FFVIII.

It's almost here! We play your...insightful E3 voicemails. Then we give our...questionable E3 predictions. Finally, we give you some E3 plushies just for you, our listeners. No, that's a lie, no plushies.
Beastly projects, free rule books, and cursed kings keep us entertained during the pre-3 info drought. Wait, why is Nintendo releasing a Gamecube controller adapter for the Wii U? And why isn't Natsume publishing this farming game? What is going on?
"Do you want to build a Persona clone? Come on let's go license Unity. We never make JRPGs anymore. Stop building FPS games. It's like you're at EA. We used to build great epics. And now we don't. I wish you would tell me why! Do you want to build a Persona clone? It doesn't have to be a Persona clone." "I don't like dating sims, Anna." "Ok, bye."

Alex, Anna Marie, Jon, and Chris bring you the latest in RPG news. I'm sorry, you're out of energy. To listen to more, please use a crystal. If you need crystals, we recommend our "Best Value" package which costs only 99.99 and comes with 50 crystals and no more Diablo 3 references.
Michael Apps joins us to talk Landmark, Child of Light, Diablo 3 PS4, and Kawazu. Anna tells us whether she prefers sequels. Chris just plays more Diablo 3. Manny teaches us about the importance of nuclear deterrence for babies. And poor Alex has to play Conception II.
Equines, epochs, set-top boxes, and hacking toddlers round out a really weird week. And as if April Fool's wasn't enough, Amazon announced a video game console. Well, not really, but really. It has a controller and everything. Except games, of course.
From heroes to Henry, the road to RPGCast's 300th episode was full of shovelware and Tidus's nipples. Celebrate with us as we reminisce about poor title choices and missed equine sales opportunities. We also learn the entire PS4 game schedule and...wait...why is Jon leveling more characters in FFXI?
RPGamer puts this episode out to pasture, along with Marc Whitten and Koji Igarashji. In the meantime, you can go play Star Trek Online on OSX and pick up the latest DLC for Blackguards. Ok, so maybe there wasn't much interesting news this week.
For $10, Shaq will title this podcast. For $20, Manny will read a book on the podcast. For $3000, Anna Marie will cook you dinner. For $15000, Jon will take you on a tour of the Tower of London, travel expenses not included.
Jon shows up but just refers us to previous tweets. Meanwhile, Manny reminds us that black is beautiful. Then Anna Marie leaks all the latest Natsume business plans while Chris listens to floppy drive symphonies.
Manny educates Chris on the importance of Canadian libraries. Chris recounts his adventures of prospecting land in Everquest Next Landmark. That's pretty much it, other than a bunch of Nintendo announcements.
Some things are better late than never. Adriaan, Glenn, Alex, Sam, and Chris talk Games of the Year. At least, that's the idea, but I think we get derailed into "How to save Nintendo" talk at some point.
Nintendo announces some new consoles. Conan is the best source for reviews on the net. Microsoft's business practices are best business practices. And if you want to get into some SOE MMOs, have we got a deal for you!

Yeah, I'll have a venti double dirty chai pumpkin spice latte to go, no foam. What do you mean you don't have an espresso machine? Look, you're a game developer who just had a successful kickstarter, you need to spend that money on the important things.
RPGCast – Episode 281: “RPGCast: Super Sunday Special Spectacular”
It's a special edition of the RPGCast this week. Jon, Alex, Anna Marie, and Chris appreciate loot, bank Pokémon, link between and transfer worlds in a Sunday episode of the show. Ok, so it isn't really special so much as late.
Mikel and Chris narrow down the important parts of RPGamer's newest Linux distribution. Obviously, Steam will be bundled in. Getting the GUI to launch will require passing a test (including picking the correct text editor between vim and emacs). Also, pay no attention to the bundled bitcoin miner clients. Those are just a necessary part of the graphics drivers. The more CPU they use, the better games will play.
RPGamer's hosts battle through various ailments to bring you this week's show. Jon gets ready for National StreetPass day, Anna gets stops Activision Blizzard from separating from Vivendi, and Chris keeps trying to stand his Xbox One on its side.
The saviors of the JRPG genre are here! All backers receive early access to the alpha of Jon Yearworth Plays Some Mech Games. $10,000 donators get get their own NPC designed after Chris's cats. Call now, operators are standing by!
Podcasting. Podcasting never changes. Kind of like Nintendo's 3rd party support. Or perhaps the game market for OSX. Also, let's be real, Pokémon may have Mega Evolutions now, but those games never change either.
The internet conspires against the podcast this week. First it sends cats to attack the equipment, then it breaks Twitch.tv, and finally it takes out all of England's connectivity. But that won't keep our heroes from spending $500 on Jim Raynor.
Chris gets his wish, but is it more than he can handle? Eidos's GM decides that yes, it is more than he can handle. The Xbox may finally handle indie publishing, but then again it may not. Activision/Blizzard decide they don't want anyone handling them anymore.
We cut our way to the main news...oh look another trading card. I mean...wow that's a good price for that game...er...excuse me. We do a podcast and there's news and stuff. Back to getting more Steam trading cards!

RPGCast – Episode 266: “It’s A SE3cret To Everybody”
What a week. First we learn what really happens at E3. Then Quin gets hungry. After that, Square Enix gets real specific. But Diablo 3 gets broken and then fixed. Following that ordeal, The Lord of the Rings Online turns into Southbeach Towing. Then everybody panics about XSEED and quits playing WoW.
Between artwork controversies and some backwash from a riptide, we find a way to bring you the biggest news of the week. You won't believe Nintendo's E3 strategy. You'll boggle at what MMORPG still exists. And you'll be completely flummoxed by what a pun about rocks can get you.
All our hopes and dreams for the next generation of consoles now have a fitting container! Aside from that, Mewtwo misplaces his tail and it seems like every free to play MMO wants you to come back to them.

This week Ryan Baker from Pixelscopic joins us to talk about their kickstarted game, Delver's Drop. Also, EA does a micro back transaction, Eidos makes Thief 4 instead of Human Revolution 2, and inXile wants you to back another game before you get Wasteland 2.
EA loves microtransactions. Anna loves farming sims. Square Enix loves trademarks. Chris loves pirates. Mac addicts love...well...any game ports. Manny loves Devil Summoner. Zenimax loves betas. But of course, Quinn loves giant robots.
You don't need fractions, don't take square roots. Don't need no matrix math to compute this product. It's small then it's bigger then it's huge sometimes. But it might just fill your unsigned int. That's the power of two.
Today Anna talks about her maple addiction and gets counseling to break the cycle. Meanwhile Manny gets the help he needs to conquer his fears and step into Walmart again. Finally, Jon comes to grips with the reality that he's addicted to gundam-themed children's vitamins. Dr. Chris guests on this very special episode of RPGCast.

Kate Middleton is pregnant! I mean sure, there's news about a successor to Planescape: Torment. And yeah there's potentially a new Star Ocean game. But really, does anything matter other than the latest in Britain's equivalent to Jersey Shore?
RPGCast – Episode 247: “Japan Isn’t All Maid Cafés”
This week we figure out what to play on Wii U. Pier Solar decides what we should play on the Dreamcast. FFXIV decides that we can continue to play it. But Bioware decides that I can't log into Star Wars: The Old Republic.
You're so cool, baby. You know you're the best at talking to demons in SMT IV. You know you're gonna get that Pokédex on the Japanese iOS App Store. You even know who's gonna write that Deus Ex movie. But why did you have to call my merger a disaster? That...that just wasn't...cool.
A few games with sordid histories are getting second chances. Skyrim is getting another collector's edition. Baldur's Gate is getting a new release date. Unfortunately, Chris and Manny aren't getting any songs from Amazon.
Extra Life was great fun and a huge success. Thousands of dollars were raised to heal kids, tons of games were played, and oh yeah, we recorded a podcast. Listen to the crew try to cover the week's news while Chris gets lost in Grimrock.
This week we get another old school western RPG (don't worry, it has a cloth map). We also get another first person PSP dungeon crawler. We also get a third version of Divinity II. But it's not all rehashes this week as we finally get to play dress up with chocobos.

RPGCast – Episode 238: “Torchlight II Minutes To Showtime”
RPGamer's panel does a great job resisting the temptation to play tons of Torchlight II instead of bringing you today's show. Obsidian has a new kickstarter, Black and White 2 has an exclusive Pokémon for early adopters, and Nintendo has some news about a new console or something.
Get lots of PAX-loadable content in this week's FREE content update. Please note, many RPG Cast opinions are available as both a multipack and as a single track mind. These opinions are exactly the same. It is possible to download the same opinion twice. Do not apply directly to the forehead.
RPGamer picks its fall fashion lineup. Square Enix picks its worst mobile pricing ever. A fan on Neogaf, however, shows that FROM Software's graphics department has been sitting around picking its collective nose.
This week, Jon is off mic. Sadly, Shawn is a bit too on mic. Unfortunately, Anna is in a construction zone. But at least we've got a new Neo Geo coming out? Bonus special hint guide for this episode: nothing Shawn says is ever serious.
Ouya scores another system seller. Virtual reality makes a comeback...with Doom! Dragon's Dogma gets an unnecessary easy mode. Perhaps the most useful announcement is about how you can get a Yak plushie.
Square Enix responds to a rumor. Planescape may come back to Torment us again. Pandas have a release date. But will you be most excited about the Baldur's Gate's Enhanced Edition details that have hit the web?
RPGamer does its best to come up with ideas to save THQ. Nintendo does its best to get you to buy a second copy of a console you already have. But not to be outdone, Square Enix does its best to get you to buy a 15 year old game, this time with microtransactions!
In order to validate our E3 experience, we'll be changing the site's name. Okay, not really. But it does seem like we were a bit light on RPGs at E3 this year. We'll cover what we liked and what little news has come forth since in this week's show.
RPG Cast's pre-E3 celebration is underway. Come party with us as we play Witcher on our Macs, download expansions as DLC, and raid Blizzard's Korean offices. Also, listen to Anna's heart break in two as she realizes she doesn't like an Atlus game.

We take marketing lessons from Satoru Iwata. Then we learn about what properties will make a great MMO from Zenimax. Finally we get psychological help from Shawn Cooper. You'll never find a better source for business and life advice than the good old RPG Cast.
The premium edition of the RPGCast comes with five vinyl statues, fourteen stickers, and two paper maps. Sorry, but we couldn't find a cloth map vendor and we're sure you'll appreciate this small aluminum pendant more anyway. Oh right, we include the news too.
Clothes that dry themselves and barrels full of special edition games are the focus of this week's RPG Cast. Really, we don't talk about Mass Effect 3, Diablo 3, or Baldur's Gate or any of the other really relevant stories.
Sony shows us how to not respect your customers. Bioware shows us how to fully exploit your customers. Nintendo shows us how to love your European customers. But only 2K Games shows us how to have a dubstep dancing robot.

RPG Cast takes you to the remains of Trafalgar Square as we try to save Sega's JRPG line up. Mass Effect 3 peppers the media with small updates including big PSP licking voice talent. But if you'll excuse me, I need to go download Lightning into my FFXIII-2.
RPGCast – Episode 208: “Twice the British in Half the Time”
The Commonwealth invades for this week's RPG Cast. Alex Fuller leads the invading forces and brings new areas of the internet that should never be exposed. Meanwhile, Chris's cats bolster homeland defense by increasing fish supplies.
RPGCast – Episode 207: “Klingons of American Racing”
Some minor technical issues dot this review of the worst RPG game systems, reasons people hate Skyrim, and justifications for long games. Diablo 3 and Trails in the Sky also star in some big stories this week. But who are we kidding? We talk about the Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning demo and that's all anyone cares about, right?
RPGCast – Episode 206: “This Podcast Goes To Eleven”
