  1. Packers hire Matt LaFleur as new head coach, the 15th head coach in Packer history.     2. LaFleur will call plays.     3. LaFleur prefers high percentage passes and zone running scheme. #39 Philbin's Revenge
A recap after Packers 34–20 win at Lambeau against Atlanta. Rodgers made typical Rodgers-esqe passes today to Cobb and Adams. Emotion and effort was 100% better today. Packers showed support for Rodgers when he scrambled and was hit by defender. A fight ensued. Philbin had this team ready today. Is he a viable candidate for coach in future? Who will decide next Packers coach? Is it all Murphy? Playoffs are still a possibility. 6% chance. Next week against Chicago do Packers have a chance? Predictions for rest of season? Poor Frank Hermans at the national anthem today! We all make mistakes. Let’s hope he gets another chance!

#38 Pack It Up. Pack It In, Let Me Bemoan
A game recap from yesterday’s historic 20–17 loss at home to Arizona. Arizona came into the game with the worst offense in most categories, yet moved the ball well in the second half. The event after the game, Mike McCarthy was fired! Shocked Packer Nation! Did the loss necessitate the move by Murphy or was it just the final straw? Was McCarthy a highly successful coach during his 13 year tenure. What positives happened? What was not so positive ? Joe Philbin named interim coach for the last 4 games. Will he make a difference? Is he a viable candidate for the position? Murphy stated in today’s press conference that he and Gute will work together to hire the 15th coach. Should it work like that, or should Gute have full authority? What kind of coach is desirable? What traits should a coach have to excel here? Any candidates you would like to see hired? The offseason looks to be riddled with as much doubt in over a decade. Do you feel good about the Packers chances to turn this around quickly and compete for Super Bowl next year? How much of a challenge will the next coach have with Rodgers? Should Rodgers be involved in the process?

#37 Dead Air
Jeremy's Notes: A recap of the 24-17 loss to Minnesota, now putting the Packers on playoff brink @ 4-6-1. 5 NFC losses and will lose playoff tiebreakers to Washington, Minnesota, Seattle who are all in wildcard contention. Aaron Jones was involved in offense with 17 carries for 72 yards and 1 rushing TD. He added 3 catches for 21 yards. Was it enough or should he see more? Rodgers had a pedestrian game, missing Adams on multiple “go” routes he beat Xavier Rhodes on. 17-28 for 198 yards. Sacked 4 times. Packers did not adjust well to Minnesota’s adjustments in second half. Minnesota blitzed less and got consistent pressure rushing 4. No one could step up while Adams was hounded with multiple defenders. Spriggs did not step up while filling in for Bahktiari. Defense hit the brink of competitive balance with injuries. Tramon Williams mishandled punt was a disaster, but the failed 4th down try by the Pack turned the game around and put Packers middling offense out of contention. Positives? The future looks bright. A new coaching staff will be in place for 2019, flush salary cap room and 10 draft picks upcoming. The team is developing a solid base of veterans with Davante Adams, Aaron Jones, Kenny Clark, Blake Martinez and Corey Linsley (to name a few). They need to be leaders. Two first round drafts picks in lower and upper half of round. Young talent with MVS, Alexander, Jackson, St. Brown looking good and progressing. Upcoming game at Lambeau against 2-9 Arizona. What does Arizona do well? What will be the outcome?

#36 Shameful in Seattle
Jeremy's Notes A recap of the 27-24 loss at Seattle Aaron Jones was not a focal part of offense in 2nd half. Only 6 touches. For game 103 total yards, 2 TD’s (40 rushing 63 pass) Davante Adams 10 catches 166 yards on 12 targets. Rodgers threw ball 30 times. Lack of defensive depth caught up to Packers. Was kicking a FG with around 8 minutes in game a wise decision? Put Packers up 24-20. Rodgers refusal to use the check down to Jones, Lewis among others. Why doesn’t he take what defense gives him? The reluctance to incorporate the run consistently hurt the Pack against an aggressive defense. Packers 3 for 11 on third down. Rodgers was sacked 4 times on 3rd down. Post game In game injuries to Mike Daniels, Kenny Clark, Bashaud Breeland, Jimmy Graham. Daniels will be out multiple weeks with foot injury. Graham broke thumb-status TBD. What did we learn this game? How will rest of season play out? Upcoming opponent: @ Minnesota

#28 It Isn’t Over Until Mr. Rodgers Says It Is Over”
Special Guest Jay Herde! A 24-23 victory against the Bears last night. Game recap - a tale of two halves. Rodgers knee injury did not look good. As long as he plays will it restrict the playbook? Is there a cause for concern on the OL - specifically starters Justin McCray and Bryan Bulaga? Justin McCray was absolutely dominated in all facets. Two holding penalties (one negated Montgomery’s 35 yard rec) in first two series. He looked responsible for not picking up Bear lineman that sacked and injured Rodgers. Bryan Bulaga had issues in the first half blocking Mack. Was it rust from lack of preseason snaps? Why does McCarthy refuse to provide help to struggling OL? Why did it take an injury to Rodgers before MM changed play calls to maximize protection and emphasize quick throws? Did the defense provide any hope they can be a top 10 defense this year? Nagy’s misdirection and exotic play calls gave defense fits in first two series - gave up 139 total yards, 8 first downs, 3-4 on 3rd down, 10 points, 7.7 yards per play. Second half adjustments seemed to slow down the Bears, or did they take their foot off the pedal? Defense did not create much pressure on Trubisky. Is that a cause for concern? Where is Clay Matthews? Can we expect double digit sacks from him? Upcoming division game against Minnesota Keys to beating Minnesota? Keys to keeping an aggressive defensive front from getting to Rodgers?

Next Man Up(set)
APP podcast #26 - “Next man up(set)” Snapshots from training camp: All 3 of us went to the first padded practice of training camp on Saturday 7/28.  First time we had all 3 been together since we first floated the idea of bring in Jeremy(!) We got to see some of the defensive linemen doing some drills up close - Kenny Clark looks fantastic, as did Mike Daniels.  Montravious Adams has been standing out in 1 on 1’s. QB’s are not showing much. Hundley has not progressed and Kizer is inconsistent, leaving door open for Tim Boyle. Other odds and ends from training camp: Jake Ryan is out for year. Oren Burks and 3 UDFA’s are backups. Should they sign a veteran such as Navorro Bowman? Rookie WR’s have had a rough camp. Inconsistent play has plagued them. Will they step up and provide “12” reliable weapons? Thus far WR Jake Kumerow has been the best WR of the backups. “12” has raved about him. If he continues this will leave difficult roster decisions. Jimmy Graham has been featured in team drills. Will this be the “new look” that MM mentioned? Offensive line, especially Bakhtiari and Bulaga are injured and it will provide opportunity for Spriggs/Murphy/Bell to prove they are legitimate. First preseason game against Tennessee tomorrow. Most starters will not play or play very little. Who needs to shine and prove the depth is good enough? Is team depth sufficient?  Jeremy blogged about it here.https://www.absolutepacker.com/node/42 DE/OLB Khalil Mack is holding out of Oakland’s training camp in hopes of new contract. Would it be wise to call Oakland and explore trade? What would be a fair trade? Would he improve the Packers defense? Non-Football Stuff The league has suspended the new anthem rule until further notice. Teams like Miami have taken matters into their own hands and will suspend or fine players for not standing.http://www.latimes.com/sports/nfl/la-sp-nfl-dolphins-anthem-20180720-story.html?outputType=amp Other NFC North Stuff: Chicago Bears: rookie LB Roquan Smith is still without a contract. He wants provisions in contract waived that would take guaranteed money away if suspended for on field play - new helmet to helmet rule) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/ct-spt-bears-roquan-smith-contract-20180801-story,amp.html

#25 - I Can’t Help You...
APP podcast #25 - “I Can’t Help You With That...” First round of OTAs and Mini Camps recap: Andy went to 2nd OTA practice for just a little bit - not much to report except that Jimmy Graham and Marcedes Lewis look like real tight ends compared to Richard Rogers and the other stiffs they’ve had since Jermichael Finley The 3 rookie WRs definitely have size - this will be the tallest WR corp that Rodgers has ever had Let’s be honest - everyone is just running around in shorts playing patty cake...it’s silly and damn near useless in today’s modern NFL Other odds and ends: Mike Pettine is a bit more fiery and demonstrative than Dom Capers - that is a welcome change HHCD was absent from the initial OTAs due to a death in the family from what we know.  On his return he said he was not holding out for any sort of new contract but then he said that with literally a wink and nod. ? Winston Moss really shouldn’t do press conferences anymore.  Honestly the fact that he has survived as an assistant into a 3rd DC is very odd. Non-Football Stuff Brian Gutekunst was surprised he didn’t get the ability to hire & fire a head coach. Whatever that means… The new national anthem kneeling policy...open discussion Andy’s APP blog link Aaron Rodgers Contract: Rumors continue to swirl that Aaron Rodgers wants opt-out clauses in his next contract that would essentially allow him to go on 1-year deals with the ability to quickly resign for more money each time. Other NFC North Stuff: Detroit Lions - New head coach Matt Patricia has had an interesting couple of weeks: First THIS Now THIS   Pete Carroll Interview https://www.si.com/nfl/2018/06/11/seattle-seahawks-rebuild-pete-carroll-hue-jackson-browns-tyrod-taylor-baker-mayfield   Donald Driver https://twitter.com/elliot/status/1007673099796525057

#24 - 2018 Draft Post-Mortem
#24 - “2018 Draft Post-Mortem” The NFL Draft - overall recap of picks:   Jaire Alexander; CB; Louisville Josh Jackson; CB; Iowa Oren Burks; LB; Vanderbilt J'Mon Moore; WR; Missouri Cole Madison; OL; Washington State JK Scott; P; Alabama Marquez Valdes-Scantling; WR; South Florida Equanimeous St. Brown; WR; Notre Dame James Looney; DE; California Hunter Bradley; LS; Mississippi State Kendall Donnerson; OLB; SE Missouri State Packers Organization stuff as it relates to the draft: Andy + Jeremey had quite a back and forth via FB messenger that was basically a Seinfeld-esque “airing of grievances” regarding the packers lol.  (We can go through that thread as needed and maybe find some gems!) Thoughts on how Gutekunst ran the draft (was it more like the same old stuff, ie Ted, or did he sort of break the mold a bit?) Jeremy was NOT pleased when Gute traded out of the 14th pick, and then got a 1st round pick from the Saints for 2019.  While this move does not help right now, it was grand larceny by Gute...hard to not take that deal if I were him. The pick of a punter in Rd 5 and then a Long Snapper in Rd. 7 were head scratchers on the surface.  Can’t remember the last time a punter AND LS were drafted by one team in the same draft(?) The Packers FO brain drain continues NFC North Teams and their overall Draft: Chicago Bears - Drafted LB Roquan Smith from UGA with the No. 9 overall pick in Rd. 1 (Smith looks like a stud LB)...The Bears are quietly building a young, formidable defense. Detroit Lions - The Lions remind me of the Milwaukee Bucks...they always seem to have pre-season hype and expectations and always fall short.  They drafted a Center in round 1(?) Minnesota Vikings - Drafted a CB out of UCF with the 30th overall pick. The Vikings are the team to beat until further notice.

#23 And Then There Were 3...
Initial welcome to Jeremy Hautala - Jeremy can say hello and give some background about himself and about what he would like to contribute to the APP podcast. (Jeremy has already been great with posting on social media/FB, thnx Jeremy!) X’s & O’s/player acquisition stuff Free agency gains: Jimmy Graham Muhammed Wilkerson Tramon Williams Free agency losses: Jordy Nelson (no surprise, but the Packers low-balled him big time for whatever reason) Jeff Janis (aka the people’s champ lol) Richard Rodgers Demarious Randall (part of trade, not FA but a loss nonetheless) It came out later that DM was drafted and immediately started playing out of position in Green Bay - the. Mind. reels. ? The impending Aaron Rodgers contract extension: With Kirk Cousins getting $84M guaranteed for 3 years you would think that Arod will get, at a minimum, $90M guaranteed for 3 years.  There are rumblings and rumors that the Packers are gnashing their teeth and trying to do a bunch of things with this contract that would give Rodgers a % of the salary cap each year. Question to ponder - will this extension be an overall good thing for the packers or will it be the beginning of the end in terms of being the pre-season favorite to win the NFC North and/or be the NFC representative in the superbowl? The upcoming NFL Draft: Will be held on April 26-28th The Packers have 12 total draft selections in 2018. The Packers still maintain all four compensatory picks — a fourth-rounder, two fifths, and a sixth — as well as an additional seventh-round pick that they acquired from the Buffalo Bills for Lerentee McCray. Packers Organization stuff The new “reporting structure” is uh, interesting(?) Mark Murphy instituted some sort of new power/reporting structure whereby Murphy, Russ Ball, Brian Gutekunst and Mike McCarthy all meet and report up to him.  This looks like way too many cooks in the kitchen and doesn’t provide the GM with full control over personnel decisions The Packers have lost Eliot Wolf & Alonzo Highsmith to the Cleveland Browns.  They have not been replaced - the brain drain that happened 5-6 years ago has taken it’s toll and as of now neither Wolf nor Highsmith has been replaced.  This is concerning… League news and Trends: Apparently the “catch rule” has been revisited and “fixed”.  Now everyone who claims that “Dez caught it” is right I guess. “Leading with the helmet” rule has been adopted which, on the surface, makes playing the game of football very difficult.

APP Podcast #22 - An Offseason of Upheaval
Front Office changes: Ted Thompson - steps down as GM, re-assigned to head scout (whoopee-doo) Brian Gutekunst elevated to GM (44 years old, 19 year scout within the Packer organization) Russ Ball promoted to something else - sounds like window dressing New Reporting structure: Gutekunst, MM & Ball all report to Mark Murphy NOT A FAN AT ALL of this structure - makes no sense...have very bad feeling that Murphy is going to mess this up Coaching changes: McCarthy given token “1 year prove it” extension to his contract. This is just window dressing as no coach or GM goes into the last year of a contract as a lame duck Dom Capers - out as Defensive Coordinator - 5 years too late IMO Mike Trgovac (Dline) & Scott McCurley (LBs) fired from Capers’ staff didn't understand the Trgovac firing - his unit did pretty well this past season Edgar Bennett not retained as OC, Alex Van Pelt contract not renewed (QB coach) Aaron Rodgers was not happy that Van Pelt was let go for whatever reason Mike Pettine hired as new DC Really like this move - Pettine is young, an outsider and innovative. Has a history of top 10 defenses. Appears much more willing to adapt his scheme unlike Dom Capers. What I don’t like is the fact that MM forced him to keep so many of Capers’ left over staff on this new defensive staff...doesn’t make sense Looming Items for Gutekunst Aaron Rodgers contract extension - this is going to be an interesting negotiation as the recent Jimmy Garoppolo extension with the 49ers was HUGE, and he only as 7 starts in his career. Right now Aaron Rodgers is due to make a MINIMUM of $30 Million annually with his next contract. Goodness. The packers simply cannot afford to pay this sort of ungodly sum, even to the league’s best player, and still put quality players around him Rodgers, if he really cares at all about winning, should take a somewhat team friendly deal ($28MM?) with the same guaranteed $ as Garoppolo.  This will give the Packers a chance to sign some other quality players around him. Jordy Nelson & Randall Cobb Both are going into the last year of their respective deals and both players are on the decline. Jordy has lost at least a step, but still has value with Rodgers in the red zone Randall Cobb is a dead man walking - if he doesn’t agree to a massive pay cut, he should be (and probably will be)  cut. If Gutekunst is serious about remaking this roster and injecting  it with youth and speed he should cut both Jordy and Cobb IMO. Clay Matthews An aging veteran that should have been traded a few years ago if Ted were smart, but here we sit with Clay due to make $15 Million and he isn't worth half that amount right now. CM3 still has value on this team, but it would be at a reduced salary and he should move full-time to ILB I really don’t believe that CM3 will take a pay cut - if he doesn't agree to that he should be cut outright. Morgan Burnett Another aging vet that has proven valuable to the defense and very versatile, but his body is breaking down quick He may command $10MM salary to be extended - Is Burnett worth that much $ on a 3rd contact?

#19 Good Art and a New Start?
Episode 19 of APP (Recap of Packers vs. Lions; segway into big changes in front office and coaching staff) Topics: X’s & O’s The game started out with beautifully executed on-side kick by the Packers, who also recovered! Alas, after the onside kick nothing happened. This game was over before the teams took the field as it turns out - the Packers looked like a team that had quit before they got off the bus. This was Ha-Ha Clinton Dix’s worst game of the year and that is saying something. I’ve never seen a player mail it in more than he did in this game - shameful performance.  I have never seen a player regress so far so fast as HHCD did this year Brett Hundley was pretty bad, again.  I don’t think that the Packers can go into next year with him as their primary backup, but they probably will. Let’s be clear - McCarthy wanted to win this game - if anything it would’ve kept him from having a losing season on his resume (8-8 looks a helluva lot better than 7-9). Outside of Football stuff: The loss to the lions set off a flurry of activity in the packers coaching & front office staff: Dom Capers, who’s job security was tenuous at best, was fired a few days after the detroit loss In a stunning development, Mark Murphy revealed that Ted Thompson would be out as GM and would be relegated to a head scout for the Packers moving forward. Rumors swirled that Ted Thompson was aloof, and not all of his faculties were there as they say - this was according to reports from anonymous members of the Packers BOD Mike McCarthy’s season ending presser was a passive aggressive plea to the front office to find a GM that will have a win-now mentality.  The TT way was failing and MM was sick and tired of being saddled with inferior talent and a dearth of impact free agents and high draft picks The rumor mill and some reporting by Bob McGinn seemed to point to the fact that Murphy was strongly considering going with Russ Ball - who is much more of a finances guy vs. a scout.  Hiring Ball would be a big departure from the Ron Wolf tree. The rumor mill also said that Mike McCarthy AND Aaron Rodgers were NOT thrilled about the prospect of Russ Ball as GM...drama unfolding! Meanwhile, 19-year veteran scout Alonzo Highsmith left for a position with new GM John Dorsey with the Cleveland Browns Murphy did try and get access to outside candidates but was denied at every turn, to include trying to get John Schneider, De Pere, WI native and current GM of the seahawks Brian Gutekunst, 44 years old and a long time in-house scout/personel man was named GM on 1/7/18 - not many (including myself) saw this hire coming but it should be a good one as he is young and knows that the time to capitalize on Arod’s prime right now UPDATE: new organizational structure announced by the Packers - Per Tom Silverstein: In a departure from previous practice, #Packers will have Gutekunst, McCarthy and Ball all report to president Mark Murphy. It means Gutekunst has control over the roster but not head coach. There are 7 or 8 teams who do it that way. More @JSComments! “Fans need to sober up for at least a day and demand a refund for all non-voting stocks” “One more piece of the evil empire to go! Listen to the bell McCarthy, it tolls for thee.” “Bad name for a GM. Too ethnic, too hard to pronounce.” Business/League stuff: The Patriots are apparently in shambles. 50-TK-ELLIOT (508-535-5468)

#18 The End.
Episode 18 of APP (Recap of Packers vs. Vikings) Topics: X’s & O’s This was a really cold game - 9 degrees was the game time temp I think. Hundley had yet to play in an actual “cold weather” game as a starter. The cold weather and field conditions definitely helped slow down the vikings and helped out the packer defense. The Packer offense seemed to be slipping and sliding all over the place for some reason though… Hundley simply cannot complete a pass longer than 15 yards - it’s just terrible. I counted a half dozen long passes that were at least 5 yards off the mark to their intended receiver.  Awful. Hundley was so bad that he broke NFL records for futility at home. The Vikings are basically the antithesis of the Packers in terms of roster construction: Great defense 2nd/3rd String QB who can actually play football competently A good mix of young players, veterans and free agents Trevor Davis is an enigma - he continues to fair catch punts inside the 5 yard line for some stupid reason and then he doesn’t even attempt to put a hand up to catch what appeared to be a really well thrown ball. Poor Jordy Nelson - he’s lost a step and it’s painfully obvious that he is/was a product of Aaron Rodgers in some capacity. The Vikings look like a paper champion - Keenum isn’t that good and that team is built for a dome, not outdoor cold weather. Outside of Football stuff: More @JSComments! “The Packers front office (and I mean EVERYONE) has become fat, dumb, and lazy. It's time to give all of 1265 Lombardi Avenue an enima and start over from scracth.” “The tube hill is cool and looked fun. #17 9 Lives All Used Up?
Episode 17 of APP (Recap of Packers vs. Panthers) Topics: X’s & O’s There seemed to be an air of confidence about the team to start the game, even though Rodgers couldn't get a first down. Rodger’s arm looked pretty good to start the game - seemed to have some zip on it, but his timing was off just a bit as he threw behind both Jordy and Cobb on what would normally be easy throws for him It was an absolute crime that Aaron Jones only carried the ball 3 times the entire game - McCarthy and Rodgers will never commit to run the ball even when it’s staring them both right in the face. All 3 interceptions were poor throws from Rodgers - all 3 were underthrown (something he never does). The pick that was meant for Cobb should have been a TD if he threw it high enough over the LB. Davante Adams suffered his 3rd concussion in 14 months on that bush league hit by Thomas Davis.  2 concussions on illegal hits for Adams sucks, but it might affect his contract as he is proving to be concussion prone(!) This was the 1st 3 INT game in 8 years for Rodgers - that is an incredible stat and a testament to his greatness.  In fairness the Panthers have a good defense - top 5 in the league I believe. This might have been the poorest collective defensive effort of the year - a no name WR caught 2 TDs and old man Greg Olson caught a WIDE OPEN TD on a blown coverage by Josh Jones Dom Capers is a dead man walking...he might get fired the day after the last regular season game. This team also lacks talent everywhere - it’s pretty depressing actually and that’s on Ted. Outside of Football stuff: The titletown district sledding hill opened! More @JSComments! “Our highest paid, best player on the team sits just because the team isn't doing well? Is this the new precedent?” “Why is this superstar wasting his career in Green Bay ? Amazing ignorance on his part.” “This idea of a ‘ community owned team’ isn’t such a good thing after all. Sell the Team. Buyer’s would be lining up” Business/League stuff: Jerry Richardson is selling the Carolina Panthers due to his conduct revelations. Vince McMahon is going to bring back the XFL! 50-TK-ELLIOT (508-535-5468)

#16 Overtime (Again) v. Browns
Episode 16 of APP (Recap of Packers vs. Browns) Topics: X’s & O’s Not going to lie - I was scared to death during this game for the first +3 quarters. The Packers at one point were down 14 points - to the f***ing browns. ? Jamal Williams continued to impress - he looks to be the #1 RB right now, ahead of Aaron Jones.  It’s great to see him take this opportunity and go with it. The pass rush on the packers is absolutely horrid - it didn’t help that Nick Perry wasn’t playing due to injury but it hasn’t been any good all year even when he is healthy. The secondary is pretty bad too, but they are getting very injured.  Davon House suffered some sort of odd back injury that will keep him out at least one week (against Carolina) possibly two weeks. As a follow-up, this defense should NEVER play zone coverage - they get annihilated every time they move to it because guys on the back end don’t seem to know what they are doing(!) Davante Adams is making himself some money in a contract year - if the packers let him test free agency he is going to get huge money.  They need to get a deal done now, regardless of how the season plays out.  He is one of the few players that continues to perform WITHOUT Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers DESPERATELY wants to play, which is obviously great to see. He was being about as demonstrative as I’ve ever seen on the sidelines late in the game. I have to give Brett Hundley credit - he is clutch at the end of games, when it matters most.  That is definitely a good trait to see. Outside of Football stuff: More @JSComments! “Throw Hundley under the bus ? Its going to look funny, but pull #12 wih the least bit of faultering, don`t wait to .long. Throw a game plan curve at them they never expected.” “Unless Rodgers can play CB it probably doesn't matter.” “Just hope Rodgers isn't accused of any sexual harrassment. Right or wrong, it's the Kiss of Death.” Business/League stuff: APP Poll: Should Rodgers be shut down for the rest of the year if they lose to the Panthers? 50-TK-ELLIOT (508-535-5468) Elliot’s Gametime notes Q1 Very empty stadium in Cleveland   Cobb targeted finally?! Whitehead Faked punt and deep tackle on kickoff Williams pounds it through and receiving TD! First drive fail? Go for it on 4th. Go big or go home.   7 TD's for the season - best in NFL   Announcers Pointed out also the worst opening defense!   Defense gave up big pass from Kizer Kizer also ran himself on 3rd Moved right down the field. Nice throw and great catch by Josh Gordon - also #12   Hundley sack. TOTAL breakdown on offense.   3 and out. 3 and out.   Q2 Browns take the lead. Shut down the Packers on both sides of the ball.   Packers intercept - then take a KNEE?!?!?!?!?   2nd lead of the half ALL YEAR!?   Q3 Jordy finally gets a pass. At least breaks the 3D shutout Williams gets 12y immediately afterward   Go for it on 4th - which is great! Why don't we do that more with the best QB in the league?!   Weird challenge call on Cobb's catch. Hundley and Adams finally started to get no huddle rhythm going   Q4   Tough call on punt Good call on challenge Great return from Davis and special teams (no penalty) Strange time management   TD. Denied. TD. OT Again.   Josh jones interception   Adams run off TD

#15 Overtime Battle of the Bays
Episode 15 of APP (Recap of Packers vs. Bucs) Topics: X’s & O’s A really rough game for Hundley at home - again. ???? He only passed ofr 87 yards, against the 32nd ranked secondary in the league(!) Jamal Williams looked very good as the starting running back - he always falls forward for positive yardage and in general just runs hard. Ty Montgomery shouldn't even be on this team right now - he offers almost no value. The bucs had at least 20 more offensive plays vs. the packers offense.  The TOP was very skewed in the Bucs favor which usually would point to a loss for the lesser TOP team. Jordy Nelson is “losing a step” in real-time in front of our very eyes and it’s patently obvious that Rodgers made him look a bit better than he really is. Cobb didn't have a pass thrown his way the entire game - he has been very disappointing. Outside of Football stuff: Lance Kendricks will be charged with some type of possession of marijuana after all.  The dash cam footage wasn't pretty, it basically looked like the police were going to let him go.  It tooks almost 3 months to bring formal charges. More @JSComments! “Kendricks stopped for speeding and drugging but never for running with a football in his hand down the sidelines for a TD” “Ted Thompson is the biggest horse's ass in football” “So. Is there any possibility that Hundley can play another position, maybe tight end or somewhere on defense? Looks like he has the physical talent just wondering because the Packers won’t get much from him.” “NO.” Business/League stuff: All the hoopla about Roger Goodell and his pending contract was nothing - he just signed a 5 year extension that might be worth $200MM John Dorsey was hired by the Browns as their new GM so that ship sailed in terms of him as a new Packers GM. APP Poll: if the Packers lose to the Browns should “everybody” be fired? 50-TK-ELLIOT (508-535-5468)

#14 Titletown Snapped By Terrible Towels
Episode 14 of APP (Recap of Packers vs. Steelers) Topics: X’s & O’s This was an outstanding game from start to finish - I would venture to say it was one of the most entertaining prime time games of the year. Brett Hundley looked much better - more confident, stepping up in the pocket and not bailing all over the place. Even though Hundley threw 3 long touchdown passes his remaining stats were still pretty pedestrian. VOICEMAIL FROM JAY “It's Jay. I wondered if you guys had a number for some kind of sad. What was it turnovers points scored upfront over it by the Packers under a huntley. It seems like they don't they don't score points offer turnovers on a short field that's my question it would probably be NIL to only a few points scored as as I recall. Thanks.” The packers FINALLY completed a screen pass to a running back - and it resulted in one of the 3 TDs for Hundley.  The packers have never been a good screen team under McCarthy, even with Aaron Rodgers under center. The Packers defense forced 3 turnovers while the offense committed zero - that stat normally means a blow out happened but this team is just not that good right now so it went the other way. The Packers defense missed 19 TACKLES. 19. There was absolutely zero pass rush or impact from Nick Perry - very disappointing. Both Kenny Clark and Clay Matthews were out for this game, which didn’t help much. Antonio Brown is inhuman - it’s stunning how good of a WR he is.  He was the best player on the field - regardless of the team. Le’veon Bell is also inhuman - he was the 2nd best player on the field - regardless of the team. Outside of Football stuff: Lance Kendricks was popped for Marijuana - this free agent draft class is a humongous bust right now with both tight end acquisitions ending up as complete failures and non-factors. More @JSComments! “Rodgers is coming back next week. Packers will go 10-6 and make the playoffs for sure. Idiot writers need to learn the game of football.” Fatty McButter Pants was outcoached again I am 61 and have been consuming cannabis off and on for over 43 years. Business/League stuff: There is a disaster brewing with the New York Giants...Eli Manning was benched for GENO SMITH!  Ben McAdoo, a McCarthy disciple, is a dead man walking. 50-TK-ELLIOT (508-535-5468)

#13 Quoth the Raven "Never Score"
Episode 13 of APP (Recap of Ravens vs. Packers) Topics: X’s & O’s This was the nadir of the season thus far - just a brutal game from the 1st Hundley interception and there forward The first offensive drive look very promising, then the horrible interception A Positive: Davante Adams appears to be the only player on offense who is playing well with Rodgers or Hundley Kenny Clark injured later in the game, he has been playing very very well so that stinks Mike Daniels pissed himself and got caught on camera Spriggs the human turnstile played RT in relief of Justin McCray’s injury and played horrible - he doesn’t look long for the league, let alone the packers Future of the Packers and the Division Wildcat, 4th down - passive aggressive? Mays Outside of Football stuff: LeRoy Butler nominated for HOF Aaron Jones MJ More @JSComments! “McCarthy was cited for Offensijuana.” “Do not let Hundley walk when his contract is up: DO NOT EXTEND RODGERS' CONTRACT.” “Cut Hundley and give him a pack of gum on the way out” 50-TK-ELLIOT (508-535-5468)

#12 Da Bears
Episode 12 of APP (Recap of Packers vs. Bears) Topics: X’s & O’s This was a game between what essentially two bad teams. The overall expectations were low. Brett Hundley started off much the same as the previous +2 games - dinking and dunking and not moving the ball well. Aaron Jones & Ty Montgomery both got hurt in this game, allowing Jamall Williams to get a shot and he did very, very well. The special teams for the Packers are a full-blown dumpster fire - they lead the entire league in penalties and their field goal kicking team is horrific.  Ron Zook gotta go. I was never a fan of that hire… Hundley finally showed a spark late in the 3rd quarter and through the 4th quarter - threw and absolutely beautiful TD pass to Davante Adams and then threw a bomb down the sideline on 3rd and 10 near his own goal line. Outside of Football stuff: Aaron Rodgers was back and practice, which was definitely a positive to see but he was simply jogging in sweats and taking snaps.  He wasn't doing any throwing.  No matter what happens I don’t see him coming back this year - playoffs or not. Ted still hasn’t replaced Martellus Bennet’s roster spot and he still hasn't put Brian Bulaga on IR.  I have no idea what he is waiting for. ???? More @JSComments! “Hundley needs to quit chewing bubble gum like a teenager and look like a leader on the field.” Random, but the only twitter account that JSComments follows is Jeff Janis lol. Business/League stuff: There’s tin foil level stuff going on behind the scenes with Jerry Jones & Papa John Rodger Goodell is very obtuse.   50-TK-ELLIOT (508-535-5468)

#11 v. Lions
Episode 11 of APP (Recap of Packers vs. Lions) Topics: X’s & O’s The defense is terrible - all 11 preferred starters were present and still performed horrendously Brett Hundley still had a handcuffed gameplan given to him by McCarthy - he missed some throws but he still only averaged less than 5 yards per attempt, which is anemic for a QB (starter or backup) Aaron Jones only played for about half the first quarter then was essentially benched for the whole game after he missed a blitz pick-up assignment...dont get that either The starting offensive line only lasted for about half the game - Brian Bulaga was lost for the year with a torn ACL Outside of Football stuff: Martellus Bennett - the most hated man in Packer nation right now Timeline: Bennett on injury report coming out of the bye with a shoulder Bennett doesn’t practice all week Bennett doesn't play in lions game Bennett is released by the Packers on wednesday with strange and rarely used “did not disclose injury” designation by the Packers, which is code for they want their money back from him Bennett is claimed on waivers by the Patriots on thursday, practices with the Patriots on friday No word from Ted Thompson on anything related to Martellus Bennett saga - instead McCarthy is left to be the messenger for the front office - not a good look More @JSComments! The entire packer organization is a fraud. We were led to beLIEve that TED, MM and DC knew what they are doing. WOW, WHAT A BLEEPING MF BLEEPING TRAIN WRECK OF AN ORGANIZATION Can somebody shove Dom Capers in his car's trunk Trade Rodgers for a bunch of draft picks and begin rebuilding the team. It would be respectful to Rodgers to let him go. Oh how great this roster is. There. Happy? Now go send your resume and salary requirements to Delusional-R-Us. All they have to do is win 3 more games and then Rodgers comes back. Then win all three playoff games on the road and get to the Superbowl Business/League stuff: Jerry Jones threatening to sue the league over language in the Roger Goodell extension The NFL is at a crossroads right now in my opinion - ratings are down, injuries are up (to a lot of star players) and the quality of product on the field is down   50-TK-ELLIOT (508-535-5468)

#10 Microsoft in Green Bay
(Recap of Packers vs. Saints) Topics: X’s & O’s The opening drive for Brett Hundley’s first start was great and resulted in a touchdown Aaron Jones is a real find at RB - he is so much better than Ty Montgomery which begs the question why McCarthy danced around with Ty for so many weeks while Aaron Jones rotted on the bench. My personal opinion is that McCarthy desperately wants to make the Ty Montgomery position switch work to prove he’s the smartest guy in the room. Hubris at it’s finest. Hundley did not play well, but much of that I put on McCarthy and his gameplan. After the first offensive drive McCarthy basically tried to “hide” Hundley. It made no sense.  He played not to lose which in the NFL gets you fired as a coach. Hundley passed for 87 yards FOR THE ENTIRE GAME - 87. YARDS. He has the lowest AYP (average yards per attempt) in the league at 1.4 YPA...absolutely shameful, pathetic numbers. The tight ends, which should have been the QBs friend and outlet, were nowhere to be found. While the defense notched two interceptions they played very poorly.  New Orleans racked up almost 500 yards of offense.  The Packer defense was caught TWICE with only 10 players on the field.  The first time resulted in a touchdown, the 2nd time resulted in a 15 yard first down.  Shameful. The mystery of HA HA Clinton Dix’s horrific play continues - the packers claim he is completely healthy and not receiving any treatment at all for anything.  If that is the truth then his drop off in play from last year to this year is the biggest I’ve seen from a player in a long, long time. #8 The Owner of Dallas AT&T Stadium
Topics: X’s & O’s Death, taxes & opening touchdowns surrendered by the Packers’ defense: The Cowboys marched down the field to open the game and scored a TD against the Packers defense. Lather, rinse & repeat. ???? HHCD has not had a good start to the season - he was voted to the pro bowl last year but he has been average (at best) this year. The Packers have real problems at Cornerback - Kevin King, a rookie, is their best cover guy and he got hurt.  ALL CBs behind him have huge flaws of some sort. Aaron Jones looks twice as good as Ty Montgomery right now.  He’s faster, quicker and just looks more like a real RB.  Ty Montgomery should NOT be the starter anymore after Jone’s performance The patchwork offensive line played ok, and that’s all they really needed to do Special Teams was a dumpster fire - Mason Crosby missed TWO EXTRA POINTS(!) The defense failed AGAIN when the team needed them most - giving up a 9 minute drive, letting Zeke Elliot run all over them late in the 4th quarter to allow the Cowboys to take the lead. The winning drive + TD pass by Aaron Rodgers is the stuff that makes a HOF career - that was a brilliant drive. Aaron Rodgers played a superb game - he owns the Cowboys for the most part Outside of Football stuff: The Mike Pence walk-out “stunt” at the Indianapolis game Roger Goodell complaining/pleading with teams and owners now that $ are being impacted. #7 Double Header Episode!
X’s & O’s (PACKERS VS. BENGALS) The Bengals starting offense hadn’t scored an offensive touchdown in their first 2 games so OF COURSE they scored an easy TD on their first possession to start the game against the Packers defense. Kevin King had his lumps against AJ Green, but Green is a top 5 WR in the league and King is a rookie CB - he passed his first test. Aaron Rodgers turned the ball over 2 times again...so uncharacteristic, especially at home The Packers offense, to include obviously Aaron Rodgers, played GREAT in the 2nd half comeback win. Get this: the overtime win was the FIRST of Aaron Rodgers CAREER as a starting QB(!) he had been 0-7. His win over the bengals also meant that he has beaten every team in the league in his career. X’s & O’s (PACKERS VS. BEARS) The Packers’ offensive line was down to their 3rd string tackles...unreal amount of injuries to one position this early in the year! With that said, the patchwork offensive line played great Aaron Jones (3rd string RB) looked great in what little we saw - he looked like he was shot out of a cannon when he came out of the backfield. 5 more injuries occurred during the game: Ty Montgomery (ribs) Joe Thomas ILB (ankle) Martinez ILB (possible concussion, came back in game) Jamal Williams RB (knee) Davante Adams (Decapitated!) - The fact that Danny Trevathan wasn’t ejected was stunning - that hit on Adams was lethal and could have ended Adam’s career. Also: the Bears are TERRIBLE Outside of Football stuff: League wide anthem protests (kneeling, locking arms, etc of players and owners) - general discussion Trump fanning the flames by tweeting ridiculous comments about players who kneel Owners locking arms with players due to Trump’s comments (looks like branding/posturing and nothing more by the owners)     Cover of sports illustrated magazine not received well Twitter account to follow (for all the wrong reasons) - @JSComments

#6 Demoralized in the Dirty South
X’s & O’s The Packers were overmatched even before this game started - It was announced that BOTH offensive Tackles would be inactive due to injuries - this was NOT GOOD(!) The defense was an abomination on a nationally televised game, again. Losing Mike Daniels early in the game proved to be very costly, but it was not the primary reason for the defeat - the secondary of this packers team was exposed (again) as a fraud - poor safety play and atrocious CB play. Both Demarious Randall and Quentin Rollins are not starting caliber players in the NFL - in fact they may be fringe back-up CBs at this point in their careers. This packers defense was supposed to be faster, but they were anything but - the talent gap between these two teams on the defensive side is CANYON wide - they have no decent cornerbacks at the moment. Jordy Nelson was lost for the game in the first offensive possession due to a “quad” injury(?) Randall Cobb was lost in the 2nd half with a shoulder injury and did not return.  This greatly hurt the offensive gameplan no doubt The early returns on Martellus Bennett are not good so far - he played very poorly and had 4 dropped passes by himself.  He appears slow footed as well. Aaron Rodgers played poorly - I really don’t care what the apologists say.  The interception was Favre-esque and the fumble / lateral “pass” play was on Rodgers - that was a designed hot route play.  He was supposed to take the snap and throw it immediately.  He did anything but(!) Ty Montgomery was the lone bright spot for the packers on offense, Kevin King was the only bright spot on the packers’ defense. It has become a recurring theme since the super bowl victory 6 years ago that Mike McCarthy coached teams can barely compete when facing good-to-very good teams on the road, especially on prime time tv. This packers team collectively lacks speed - the WRs/TEs and RBs are all average at best in terms of speed - they have no true “burner” on either side of the ball. It’s safe to say that the defense’s dominating performance against the seahawks was a mirage - Seattle barely won against a very poor 49ers team. (Seattle scored only 12 points).

#5 Mike Daniels vs. Seahawks
X’s & O’s Packers get the win - with defense! Kyle Murphy started at right tackle in place of Brian Bulaga - he held his own for the most part First half was a snooze fest - Aaron Rodgers and co. get shut out in the 1st half Very bland offensive scheme with long developing WR routes, does not work against a front 7 like the Seahawks as you have to get the ball out quick! Rodgers got 7 points (TD to nelson) off a free play (12 men on the field) - it is amazing how many times he makes teams pay for that mistake...you would think that opposing teams would learn by now! Mike McCarthy egregious error - calling timeout instead of simply running out the clock, directly resulted in 3 points for Seattle Mike Daniels was the best player on the field that day, both teams included Packer fans were cheering loudly and doing the wave while the OFFENSE was on the field - that was dumb (you do that to the opposing team, not the home team ????) Outside of Football stuff: Quick look at Titletown District Underwhelming Uber Business/League stuff: Patriots got shellacked at home in the NFL kick off game - did not see that coming Ezekiell Elliott got an injunction on his suspension, so the packers will no doubt face him when they play dallas. The league looked really bad (again) with how they handled the suspension.

#2 Preseason!
Letroy Guion finally released after multiple suspensions and legal trouble; there is a lack of depth at that position. Surprise! Kyler Fackrell is really struggling at camp. He is an OLB that needs to have a big jump in year 2 but hasn’t shown anything. 1st string defense vs. Eagles 1st string unit gave up an easy TD on first possession. Lots of injuries for Packers (not all seem serious but still concerning). Vikings also won: VIKINGS 17, BILLS 10! Wentz still managed to go 4-for-4 for 56 yards and a score on his first series. Eagles running backs combined to rush 16 times for 33 yards. Green Bay Packers running back Ty Montgomery did not get many opportunities to carry the ball last night. On his second of only three carries, he coughed it up to the defense. Ezekiel Elliott suspended 6 games. Cowboys, Seahawks, Packers and Falcons are neck-in-neck as Super Bowl Favorites vs. Leader Patriots. That's according to Las Vegas oddsmakers. Patriots are first NFL team to purchase their own dedicated airplanes. Logo/branding. First Caller: Ron wolf way in Ashwaubenon. Brett Favre was in town for award in De Pere - believes Rodgers will play into his 40's, but doesn't want his own grandkids playing football at all!
