Today, we're going to revisit some great information and share some new about: How can you find your sexiness by managing body image issues, stress, and lack of time? What is Female Sexual Response and how do we use it to understand our sex drive for the benefit of the bedroom? How can you find fun with your husband in and out of the bedroom? From the Bible What does God have to say about our sex lives? Here are some of the verses we shared in today's episode: It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. – 1 Corinthians 13:5 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. – 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth. – Genesis 1:27-28 and When the woman saw that the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eyes, and that it was desirable for obtaining wisdom, she took the fruit and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. – Genesis 3:6. Moral of the story: Sexual intimacy was encouraged by God and had nothing to do with "the fall." Song of Songs The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife. Happily with Kevin A. Thompson
Our guest today is Kevin A. Thompson, the lead pastor at Community Bible Church in western Arkansas, speaks at marriage and parenting conferences, and has authored three books, the most recent one titled Happily: 8 Commitments of Couples Who Laugh, Love & Last. In Happily, you start by talking about how we tend to think happy or unhappy marriages are a product of luck or unspoken rules like marrying the right person. We've also heard this with the idea of sexual compatibility. What do y’all think about that idea? You have eight commitments outlined in Happily, but one stuck out to me in particular about how we can misuse apathy and aggression in marriage. How do spouses misuse apathy and aggression when dealing with sex in their marriage? Kevin, you've been bold on your blog about how women should be treated with respect, speaking for #MeToo and other issues. We've also talked about that here. But how can wives get husbands to understand their experiences with harassment and abuse without seeming like we’re man-bashing? You’re a pastor, and while you can’t speak for all the others, we get this question sometimes and wonder how you’d answer: Why don’t pastors preach and teach more about sex? What if a wife is experiencing sexual issues in her marriage? How should she approach her male pastor, and what safeguards should be in place? Kevin A. Thompson’s book is Happily: 8 Commitments of Couples Who Laugh, Love & Last, and check out his previous marriage book, Friends, Partners, and Lovers and his blog. Blessed are those who mourn,     for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek,     for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,     for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful,     for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart,     for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers,     for they will be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,     for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.'" – Matthew 5:3-10 "Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. 37 - Periods and Sex
In ancient Judaism, a woman was unclean while she was on her period.  She could only return to the marriage bed 7 days after her period stopped and only then after going through ritual cleansing. So, that means opportunity for sexual relations were not nearly as plentiful as it is for us since Christ came. So, my friends, let’s talk about periods and sex To start, let’s talk about female health in general, what are some things that affect our periods and are signs that a woman should go to her doctor? Is there any reason to prohibit sexual relations while a wife is on her period according to Christian traditions? What are some things to help make it less messy and more comfortable? From the Bible Leviticus 12: "Purification after childbirth." Leviticus 15:19: "When a woman has her regular flow of blood, the impurity of her monthly period will last seven days, and anyone who touches her will be unclean till evening." Leviticus 15:28: "When she is cleansed from her discharge, she must count off seven days, and after that she will be ceremonially clean." Galatians 3:23-25: "Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian." What if sexual intercourse isn’t possible at some point? What can a couple do then? Does the Bible have anything to say about sex and pregnancy? 23-Enjoy Your Marriage During the Holiday Season
We’re entering one of the busiest times of the year – the holiday season that runs from Thanksgiving Day (in the U.S.) through Christmas and on to New Year’s Day. For many women, this is also one of the most exhausting times of the year – those of us who are barely keeping all of our balls in the air will soon find that we’re supposed to juggle even more balls for the next 6 weeks or so! The holidays often take a toll on women’s health and peace of mind. And the busyness they bring can affect our marriages. When stress, fatigue and activities increase, fun, sex and enjoyment in our marriages tend to decrease. Fortunately, our marriages (and our physical and mental health) don’t have to suffer during the holidays. Today, we’re going to talk about things we can all do, starting now and for the next few weeks, to keep things fun, calm and a little bit sexy during the busiest time of the year. We also have a free gift for you. 10-Tending the Garden
Despite making two recordings, we encountered sound difficulties that could not be completely fixed. About halfway through, you may hear some echo (reverberation). But hang in there! It will correct within a few minutes. Thanks for your support! Our topic is tending your garden, “garden” being a euphemism for your lady parts that we borrowed from Song of Solomon. We’re talking specifically about hygiene, “landscaping,” and even decorating your garden. What have y’all learned about what constitutes good hygiene for a woman’s private parts? More and more wives are grooming their garden—by shaving, waxing, or other hair removal. What do you think about that trend, and why has it become so popular? Not only can you landscape but you can decorate your garden—permanent and temporary tattoos, piercings, and vajazzling. What do y’all think about this practice? What does the Bible have to say, if anything, about how we care for our lady parts?
