In this week's episode of Road to Atlanta, we start off by welcoming Gaurav back into the fold (fear not, Garrett will be back soon as well) and first talk about the recent promotions of Bryce Ball and Michael Harris to Rome. In short, Ball's promotion was overdue and Harris' promotion was a pleasant surprise although we aren't expecting huge things this year (his time will come). After that, Matt talks about his recent trips to see Gwinnett in action to see how Ian Anderson, Tucker Davidson, Cristian Pache, and Drew Waters are looking in Triple-A. We then answered listener questions about the Braves' current shortstop problem, the depth of the minor league system in the coming years, Freddy Tarnok's development, and what we expect for the Braves' outfield in the near future. In this week's episode of Road to Atlanta, we had a shorter episode than usual as we had Matt on location watching a minor league game and we didn't want to tempt the audio/connection gods too much (apologies in advance if the audio isn't quite as good as usual). First things first, our own Garrett Spain re-joined the podcast to give us a hand (he is going to be back on frequently in the future) to talk some prospects. The big news of the week we discussed was the promotions of several of the Braves' top prospects including Cristian Pache, Drew Waters, Ian Anderson, and Tucker Davidson. After that, we talked a bit about some of the Braves minor leaguers who have been among the top performers recently. Enjoy! We promise next week will be a longer episode.Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

After being off a week, this week's episode focuses on reflecting on the prospects that were sent elsewhere including talk about Joey Wentz, Travis Demeritte, and Kolby Allard. After that, we talk about what we are expecting through the end of the season for guys like Drew Waters, Cristian Pache, Ian Anderson, and the like. Eric rants a bit about Luiz Gohara and people being designated for assignment as though it was this shocking thing. Finally, we take listener questions about the most difficult promotions for pitchers to adjust to, Greyson Jenista's recent hot streak, and much more. Enjoy!Learn more about your ad choices. In this week's episode, we first tackled a few guys who have looked really strong of late including Bryce Ball's torrid run down in rookie ball, Tristan Beck's strong return from injury, Joey Wentz ratcheting up his strikeout numbers, and Alex Jackson tearing the cover off the ball. We are more excited about some of those performances than others. After that, we took a bunch of listener questions and answered them including discussion of Ian Anderson, the Braves' proficiency in developing hitters, as well as our favorite MiLB parks. We hope you enjoy this one.Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

In this week's episode, we focused solely on the prospect rankings we rolled out this past week over on Talking Chop. From discussing our unanimous top prospect Cristian Pache and how he had separated himself from the pack to discussing why some guys (looking at you, Luiz Gohara) didn't make the list at all, Matt and Eric go in depth into how the list was formulated, some of the harder calls that had to be made, and whether or not there were any surprises once we actually got the list finalized. We also took a few questions from folks over on Twitter to answer to make sure we didn't forget anything super important. Thanks again to everyone for reading the site this week and enjoy!Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

In this week's episode of the Talking Chop podcast, you will notice a decided lack of Ozzie Albies trade proposals and references to Michigan sports and the curse of Atlanta sports. That is because Brad is on location in Vegas covering the NBA Summer League. As a result, you are stuck with Eric handling main host duties. My condolences. Fortunately, Scott was able to join me to cover a whole lot of ground in Brad's absence.Enclosed in said podcast you will find topics covered including:- Recapping the Braves' awesome first half of the season- Our MVPs and LVPs for the Braves from the first half of the season- Discussing the injured and rehabbing Braves including Anthony Swarzak, Dansby Swanson, and Ender Inciarte- Looking back at the games from the last week or so- Recovering from a crazy 9th inning in Sunday's game versus the Marlins- An early look at trade deadline targets- Much, much moreLearn more about your ad choices. In this week's episode of Road to Atlanta, we first look at the Futures Game selections for the Braves. The virtues of Ian Anderson and Cristian Pache are talked about quite a bit as well as cases made for Drew Waters and Kyle Muller because, well, we are greedy and would have loved to see some more Braves. Then, we talk about the status of some injured prospects including Freddy Tarnok, Tristan Beck, Corbin Clouse, CJ Alexander, and Victor Vodnik while mourning the retirement of all-around good dude Derian Cruz. After all of that, each of us talk about a couple of guys that are trending up on our personal rankings as well as some that are trending downward as a little bit of a teaser for our Top 30 Braves Prospects List that will be rolling out on Talking Chop during the All-Star break. In this weeks episode of Road to Atlanta, Matt and Eric first do a quick recap of how some of the guys are doing down in short season ball and as well as how some of the higher draft picks for the Braves are doing including Shea Langeliers and Braden Shewmake. We then discuss the draft signings overall as well as the guys who have not signed yet before we get into the meat of the episode which was discussing the guys we have missed the most on. From old favorites like Tommy La Stella and Jordan Schaefer to more recent misses, we talk about the guys that exceeded our expectations and guys that broke our hearts. In this week's episode of Road to Atlanta, we take a step back and take some listener questions as we wait for short-season ball to get fully underway. We discussed plenty of the Braves top prospects including what the near-term futures are for Drew Waters and Cristian Pache, how the 2018 draft class is doing, updating our outlook on Kolby Allard, and discussing some guys whose outlook has diminished this season (if only temporarily). After that, there were a LOT of questions pertaining to the 2019 draft class and the short-season ball rosters including guys we have our eyes on, who we think could have the longest MLB career, and lots of stuff in-between. In this week's episode of Road to Atlanta, we take a step back from all of the draft talk (we did that a lot in recent weeks and it is a sore subject for some of us....*cough* *cough* Matt *cough) and instead dive back into creating our midseason Braves' minor league All-Star rosters. This thought exercise helps us get a good handle on the top prospects in the system before we start incorporating the 2019 draftees into the mix ahead of our Top 30 Braves prospects list which will be coming out during the MLB All-Star break. It also highlights the strengths and weaknesses of the system....plus it is just fun to talk about prospects and making Dream Teams with them. Enjoy! Learn more about your ad choices. In this week's episode, we touch quickly on the recent promotions of William Contreras and Greyson Jenista to Double-A which look a bit puzzling on the face of it but make a certain amount of sense in others. After that, it is all draft talk as we talk first in generalities about what we thought about the draft which wasn't exactly a glowing endorsement, but we at least understood the strategy (we think) and there are some definite benefits. After that, we look at the picks themselves from the high profile ones in Shea Langeliers and Braden Shewmake as well as the day two and three picks that could really make some noise for the Braves in the future. In this week's episode of Road to Atlanta, Matt and Eric first take a look at some of the top performers in the Braves' farm system including the usual names like Trey Harris and Cristian Pache as well as giving some deserved air time to guys like Tucker Davidson who have been playing well and who might not see the limelight as much as they should. After that and some injury updates, we take our final dive before the draft where we talk about the most likely candidates to be taken with the 9th overall pick (well, the most likely at THIS moment in time anyways), who we like and don't like, and then we talk about some names for later on in the draft. In this week's episode of Road to Atlanta, it is all draft talk as Talking Chop alum and Baseball America's current draft guru Carlos Collazo comes on the show. We explore the currently thinking about the draft including the Braves' options with the 9th overall pick to start the show. After that we talk about specific guys who are trending up and down including Hunter Bishop, Josh Jung, Daniel Espino, and others as we all try to make sense of what is going to go down in a couple of weeks. As an added bonus, Matt shows his love for Daniel Espino in his feud with Carlos while Gaurav and Carlos feud over characterizations from The Office....so basically it was just like old times. In this week's episode of Road to Atlanta, we take a week off from having guests on the show (fear not, Baseball America's Carlos Collazo will be on next week to talk draft stuffs) and took a bunch of questions from listeners on a wide array of topics. We discuss Austin Riley's call-up, several different angles on Drew Waters/Cristian Pache, the command issues we are seeing out of Kyle Wright and Ian Anderson, and a whole lot more. Plus, Matt has us revisit the offseason to talk about the "almost trade" for J.T. Realmuto because Matt is a sadist that enjoys pain and suffering. Enjoy!Learn more about your ad choices. In this week's episode of Road to Atlanta, we had a really special guest. First, the three of us give you the usual update as to what is going on in the farm system with some of the top performers from the last week or so. Brace yourselves...there is a good bit of Austin Riley in the first segment as well as tidbits on members of the Mississippi rotation, Drew Waters and Cristian Pache, and Trey Harris who has been absolutely raking for Rome. After that, we were fortunate enough to be able to bring Jim Callis from MLB Pipeline on to the show despite his busy schedule (and my pestering him constantly....sorry Jim). Jim talks to us a bit about some of the big position player prospects in the Braves system, gives a ton of insight into the state of power numbers in the minors (in particular in Triple-A) due to the baseballs being used, and then takes a dive with us into what we can expect to see from the 2019 MLB Draft from the Braves at least as an early glance. Jim was an absolute joy to record with and gave us a ton of insight. Enjoy!Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

In this week's episode of Road to Atlanta, we first do a quick recap of what we have seen in the minor leagues over the last couple of weeks including some newsworthy promotions, injuries, and top performances including Austin Riley smashing baseballs into orbit, a dark horse pitching prospect playing out of his mind, and more. After that, we were joined by Baseball America's Ben Badler to update us on the state of the Braves and the international free agent market. We get a lot of questions about the players the Braves lost, what the Braves are currently doing to rebuild their international operations, etc. Ben covers all of that in more in a deep dive of an interview that you won't want to miss. While you are at it, please make sure to subscribe to Baseball America. We love that whole team of folks over there and it is an incredible value for the service and information they provide. Supporting folks like them is important to us, you should do the same.Anyways, enjoy the show!Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

In this week's episode of Road to Atlanta, we cover an array of topics. First, we took at look at some of the top performers from down in the minor leagues including top prospects like Drew Waters and Cristian Pache as well as lesser known guys like Riley Delgado, Justin Dean, Trey Harris, and Rafael Ortega (with a minor tangent about the baseball being used in Triple-A). Then, we discuss how the Braves are currently managing pitchers' innings thus far in the 2019 season and we wrap things up with finishing up mailbag questions from last week and making some predictions for the weekend since we recorded this episode on Friday and needed to switch time slots with the Talking Chop podcast (which you should go listen to immediately if you have done so already.
